Clinch Powell Community Kitchens

Clinch-Powell Community Kitchens is a shared use facility created to enable growers and small business people in East Tennessee to process their own value added food products from home and locally grown produce.  The idea is to make farm-fresh, gourmet products to supply the growing marketplace for specialty and organic foods.  The Clinch-Powell Community Kitchens is compliant to FDA standards, and is capable of producing 2000 jars per day of vegetable or fruit products for legal commercial sale.  The Kitchens are in Hancock County Tennessee, near the intersection of State Highways 131 and 31.  The Kitchens contain state-of-the-art equipment for preparing, cooking, filling, labeling, flash freezing and cooling.  Full-time staff on-site provides assistance with development of recipes and production processes for the most delicious and cost-effective food production.

Appalachian Spring Cooperative, an association of growers and small business people processing their own value-added products in the Clinch-Powell Community Kitchens, is producing items such as salsa, sweet potato butter, relish, vegetable soup starter, garlic marinade and herbal self-care products.   The Cooperative serves its members by providing access to bulk purchasing, low-cost product liability insurance, a pool of member and contract labor, and professional marketing of members' products under private and Cooperative labels.
